Biology and Dispersal of the Watermelon Bug Coridius viduatus (F.) (Heteroptera: Dinidoridae) on Different Cucurbit Crops, in North Darfur State, Sudan

The watermelon bug, Coridius viduatus (F.) could be a real threat to watermelon genus Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) in western Sudan, wherever over eightieth of the population depends economically on agriculture. so as to beat this constraint, a study was dispensed at University of Alfashir, North Darfur State, to research biology, food preference and spreading of watermelon bug. A survey was conducted on season (2013/2014) to see the movement and spreading of the watermelon bug within the space around Alfashir. Biology of the bug was studied beneath laboratory conditions, preoviposition, oviposition, incubation and post oviposition periods were calculated. Food preference and non-preference by the bug to four watermelon varieties and tow Cucurbitaceae ones were additionally evaluated; a field experiment was conducted, a irregular complete block style was used.
