News Update on Electropolymerization : March – 2020

The mechanisms of pyrrole electropolymerization

Over the past twenty years, polypyrrole has appeared as the most extensively studied conducting polymer. However, despite the volume of work already done in this area, there has been little focus put on the mechanism of polypyrrole synthesis, especially concerning the most efficient method, electropolymerization. [1]

Electropolymerization on graphite fibers

The electrodic polymerization on graphite fibers of a variety of monomers having different types of functional groups has been investigated. In addition to vinyl polymerization, some novel polymerizations of cyclic functional groups have been conducted under appropriate polymerization conditions. In many instances, the grafting of the surface polymer to the fiber has been confirmed. [2]

Filmforming electropolymerization of pyrrole on iron in aqueous oxalic acid

Electrodeposition of polypyrrole on iron from aqueous solutions on pyrrole and oxalic acid yields strongly adherent, smooth polymer layers. The electrochemical process proceeds at a constant current density of 2mA cm−2. The potential-time curve is characterized by a short induction period, where active iron dissolution occurs.  [3]

A Comparative Study of Two Different Media Effect on the Electropolymerization of 2-(9-ethylcarbazol-3-yliminomethyl)phenol by Cyclic Voltammetry, Impedance Spectroscopy, XPS, UV-visible Measurements and DFT Calculation

A carbazole-based monomer, 2-(9-ethylcarbazol-3-yliminomethyl)phenol (SIC), was first synthesized and characterized. It was afterward polymerized by potentiostatic methods.  [4]
