There were reportedly references to the codenames “Clementine” and “Kiyomi” in the initial Android 14 QPR3 beta.

During the company’s I/O event in May of last year, the Google Pixel Tablet with Tensor G2 CPU and multipurpose magnetic charging speaker dock was unveiled. According to rumors, the Pixel Tablet 2 is currently being developed as a possible replacement for the Pixel Tablet. Two new codenames are purportedly included in the most recent Android beta release, suggesting the creation of a Pixel Tablet for the next generation.

References to the Pixel Tablet 2 in the first beta of Android 14 QPR3 for Pixel phones were spotted by 9to5Google. As per the report, the code includes two new entries — “Clementine” and “Kiyomi”. These codenames, that have never been seen before in the beta, reportedly indicate that Google is preparing the Pixel Tablet 2.

Remember that the initial codenames for the Pixel Tablet were “Tangor” and “Tangorpro”? A tangor is a fruit hybrid that blends the flavors of a sweet orange and another citrus fruit. Tangors include the codenames Clementine and the Kiyomi, which can be found in the most recent QPR beta version. A tangor is commonly identified as a Clementine, however a Kiyomi is a hybrid tangor that has its origins in Japan. It is alleged that these hints show that development on the Pixel Tablet 2 is still ongoing.

Similarly, the included charging dock for the Pixel Tablet was allegedly codenamed “Korlan” or “Yuzu.” Google only ever released one dock. The second dock, which was just supposed to provide charging, was never made available. Google has given their tablet codenames that are inspired by fruits.

Google has not disclosed any information regarding the Pixel Tablet 2’s development. Thus, it is important to take all of these data with a grain of salt.

The starting price of the Pixel Tablet is $499, or around Rs. 40,900. 10.95-inch WQXGA (1,600×2,560 pixels) screen is one of its features. You can use a USI 2.0 touch pen with it. Google’s own Tensor G2 SoC with eight cores and a Titan M2 security chip power the Android tablet. It has 256GB of built-in UFS 3.1 storage in addition to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

Both the front and rear cameras on the Pixel Tablet are 8 megapixels. It supports Google Assistant and has four speakers. A magnetic dock with compatibility for Pogo pin connectors is included with it. The 27Wh battery powers the tablet.
